Recently, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Lancaster and Lebanon Counties partnered with Joyland Roofing to complete an essential roof replacement project. The project involved replacing part of a rubber flat roof and conducting a full replacement of a slate roof.

A Building with a Timely Need

“We were really fortunate to buy the building a couple of years ago,” said Jessica Laspino, Executive Director of CASA. “We had it inspected, and they told us the roof had 1-2 years left. Since we’re a non-profit, we stretched that to 3-4 years—but it was time.”

Finding the right contractor wasn’t easy. According to Laspino, CASA sought bids from seven different contractors, making the comparison process a challenge.

“We were really fortunate to receive a grant from the High Foundation to support the installation of a new roof,” Laspino explained. “We talked with several roofing companies—over seven, in fact. We got competitive bids, had discussions with our board, followed up with meetings, and went through an extensive process. Ultimately, Joyland was our top choice.”

Addressing Key Roofing Issues

During our roof inspection, we determined that only a section of the rubber roof needed replacement, as it was aging and had started to leak. However, the slate roof required a full overhaul. Many of the fasteners holding the slate had deteriorated and were pulling away, while the slate itself had become soft and was peeling in multiple areas.

Supporting CASA Beyond the Roof

In addition to the roofing project, Joyland Roofing was honored to sponsor CASA’s annual gala—helping further support their mission.

“One of the biggest reasons Joyland stood out was the personal management throughout the entire project,” Laspino shared. “I visited the job site a few times, and the process felt really personal and well-managed—especially for such a large project.”

Laspino was particularly impressed with Joyland’s attention to detail.

“I was amazed by how smoothly everything went. The shingle roof was completed in just one day, which was incredible. And after the job was finished, the crew noticed there was a lot of dust from the work. Before leaving, they took a leaf blower and cleaned off every car in the parking lot—even the cars parked in the alley that weren’t ours.”

A Bright Future Together

We are honored to have worked with CASA on such an important project and look forward to partnering with them on future endeavors. Helping organizations like CASA continue their vital work is what drives us at Joyland Roofing.

Thank you, CASA, for trusting us with your roof—and your mission!
