Higher upfront cost. The panels, clips, custom details, and installation require a larger investment than an exposed-fastener system.
Oil canning can show. The broad, flat areas may develop visible waves or ripples, especially under certain lighting. That is called oil canning. A matte finish, like the black finish shown in John’s video, can make it less noticeable than a shiny finish.
Installation is more specialized. Panel layout, clips, seams, flashing, penetrations, and roof edges must work as a single system. Complex roofs generally require more custom detailing than a simple gable roof.
